I believe it is an 8049, with the built in ROM
disabled.  Well, I have an MX-100 and that is what it uses.
I am not sure about the MX-80.

It is the same. I think the i8049 (MCS-48 i8048 with ROM) contains much of the original code, there would also be a 2332 in the first socked. When you install Graftrax you break the J1 jumper, making the i8049 to boot from the external bus, the Graftrax set.
