I'm wondering what exactly the modification to upgrade to an enhanced IIe
was...
3 things are necessary to 'enhance' a IIe.
- 65c02 CPU - more instructions
- Roms - (2 each) to change the firmware in Rom to be more compatible
with the IIc
- Character Generator Rom- Gives you mouse text characters so you can do
some limited graphics on the text screen.
And yes, you can home brew the roms yourself if you want. If you don't,
there are probably a bunch of enhanced IIes out there you could get hold
of for minimal $$ and either swap computer, main board, or just the 4
chips necessary.
Thankx,
Ed
