Funny, you said "everything" that sounds pretty darn exclusive to me.
You were making an opinionated statement, I was simply responding to
it - IMHO. :-)

>Are you sure ? Apple ][ emulators were first under discussion >/development as early as 1984/1985 - as documented in the Apple ][ >section on my website. I don't remember ShrinkIt being around then.

Ok, let me modify my statement to "before Apple II emulators were
widely discussed"

>So, what's the point of preserving something outmoded and outdated >like this.

By using an emulator, you're still "preserving something outmoded and
outdated" you're just doing it virtually.

>Even on a real Apple ][ SHK's and SDK's are a pain to use.

Are you high? All you do is double click on an SDK and it self
extracts. I don't know what can be simpler. ShrinkIt entails a few
more prompts, but how hard is it to select a destination folder/volume
or disk drive and then insert a floppy to unpack to? In an emulator
the disk is virtual, so you don't even need to undertake the physical
stress of floppy manipulation Moose.

>Ermmm, this doesn't work in all cases of SHK and SDK.

errrrr, right. Don't try to unshrink GS file archives on your //c.
But in most cases, if it was packed with shrinkit, it will unpack with
shrinkit.
