Sounds like the "original" original GS keyboard that shipped with the
very first GSes. (or at least, the very first ones that hit the local
college) The one whose case/"frame" was about a 16th of an inch larger
than the key-surface area everywhere but the "top", where it was about
5/8 inch.
Personally, I'm running an AppleDesign on my rescued from the dump GS -
I had a spare one laying around from an old LC II that I'd long since
retired, and figured (correctly, as it turns out) if it's an ADB
keyboard, it'll plug right into a GS and "just work", no muss, no fuss,
no bother. Sure enough, it did. As have all the ADB keyboards and
rodents I've plugged into it.
