YOu can get resistor packs that are in a package like an IC. Often
they are there to terminate something, and since you may have a need
to remove the termination they put it in pluggable unit.
That almost sounds like what that is (the "res" suggests "resistor"
to me). But I have no idea what it's doint there, indeed my thought
is that someone just plugged it in at random.
