Vtech's Laser 128 computer

Just wondering what the differences are between the:

Laser 128
Laser 128 EX
Laser 128 EX/2


Are these all the same machine just with minor enhancements? Anyone here
an Apple II clone/Laser 128 series expert?


I remember back around 1984/1985, I was looking to purchase my first home
computer, and I originally thought I would purchase an Apple //c or //e or
Laser 128, since our school had a bunch of Apple //e systems (as well as
TRS-80 Model III computers), and I wanted something compatible with the
//e's at school.

Naturally, the price of the Laser 128 and it's Apple II compatibility
intrigued me.  Eventually I just bought a cheap used Commodore VIC-20,
thinking I would eventually move on up to the Commodore 64 or Commodore
128.

Oddly enough, I eventually moved on to the Tandy Color Computer 3 (CoCo 3)
shortly after it's introduction in the second half of 1986.  A lot of
other peers in junior high/high school at that time (in my rural area)
happend to own CoCo 2 and CoCo 3 computers, probably thanks to the
abundance of Radio Shack stores in a near by city, and partly due to the
intial cost of a basic CoCo system (cassette recorder and cheap RS
joysticks).


Now, thanks to obsolenence, amongst many other factors, I own every single
model in the Apple II family (well, I sold my rare original Apple ][  
<--not ][ Plus a couple of years ago), but I never did collect the II
clones.

I was sort of thinking of picking up a Laser 128, but I just don't know
the differences between the Laser 128 models (specs, time of introduction,
etc.).

As an aside, I'm also a CoCo user/collector...I even have the somewhat
rare white case CoCo 1.


Ahh...so many fond memories of 8 bit computing. Sometimes I  yearn for the
early to mid '80s. Heh.  :)
