In the AFP 2 specifications "Cleartxt Passwrd" or "Randnum Exchange", are a
couple of valid passowrd types.
PCMacLan uses "ClearTxt passwrd"
The original GS CDEV only looks for "Cleartxt passwrd" or "Randnum
exchange"
There is supposed to be a case INsenstive client check.
Between GS system 5 and 6, Apple accidentally made the GS's Appleshare CDEV
case sensitive.
A rebuilt CDEV that fixes this problem is available at the follwing address
