System Error $0040 when copying large amount of files

Hello Everybody,

I recently purchased a v1.2 CFFA card (love it!) and am now in the
process of copying my files from my old 100MB SCSI drive to it.

I initially thought I would simply drag and drop all of the folders
from one of my old partitions to one of my new CFFA drives.

But when I try to do this, I invariably get the following error:

System Error ($0040) Invalid pathname syntax.

However, if I patiently drag and drop a couple folders at a time
(depending upon their size) everything will copy okay. Needless to say,
I don't have any invalid filenames that I am aware of.

Sometimes instead of getting System Error $0040 the system will lock up
and the cursor will have a sort of rainbow palette.

I originally thought this might be due to flakiness in my old drive
(it's definitely going) or perhaps the SCSI card or cable. But I tried
copying a large amount of files from one CFFA drive to another and got
the same error.

I also tried copying a large amount of files using Copy II 9 but again
got the same error.

So this made me think perhaps RAM is flaky since it's erroring out on
reading the files (it never gets to a write). But I ran AE's RAM test
on my GS RAM Plus and everything comes out copacetic.

I have installed Dave Lyon's CFFA driver and can see all my partitions.
My system has been stable in the recent past and gets regular daily
use.

Anybody else run into this problem? I do have a work-around as
described above but it is tedious and it does bug me that a routine
task like this isn't working properly.

Thanks,

Joe
