The report that it requires a PS/1 is clearly in error.
Quality is exactly what you would expect for a composite color input--
acceptable for 40 columns, barely readable (and therefore unusable) for
80 columns. Colors are great. LCD is bright and sharp.
It will be interesting to see if this can be used as an NTSC-scan RGB
monitor with some cabling...

Beauty!

Thanks for the test and tune session and the report!

Did you use the mini-plug input to the LCD from the Apple // composite out?

Yes.

And when you say NTSC-scan RGB do you mean analog, like what would
work on a IIgs or Digital like the output of a //e RGB card?

Analog input would be its native mode, though a conversion from
"digital-level" RGB would be possible without much trouble (it's
just a color matrix).

So in essence, would you say: compared to a C-VUE or the original //c
flat-panel display, a 5" Sony PS1 LCD is an *acceptable* alternative
for portability with a //c application that doesn't require 80 columns for
the software it's going to run?

If so, I gotta go log into eBay and get one or two!

I agree with Sean that it would be nice if it were larger, with
a more "conventional" mounting. But it works well if a sharp,
3" wide x 2-1/4" high Apple display is suitable.

I think that for most game and 40-column uses, it would be quite
acceptable--unless you have trouble seeing things a foot away.

The stereo audio is a nice bonus, particularly if your Apple II
has (or has been fitted with) an audio output.
