So in essence, would you say: compared to a C-VUE or the original //c
flat-panel display, a 5" Sony PS1 LCD is an *acceptable* alternative
for portability with a //c application that doesn't require 80 columns for
the software it's going to run?

I just got mine as well - I'll echo Michael's assesment, but I'll also
recommend that this is not a good display option for a //c. Frankly, it's
too small and you would be better off with at least a 7" - which would get
you closer to a //c LCD display size anyway. The base with the hinge is a
hassle as well. Anything done with this would be a serious kludge.

What I think I will use it for is my Replica-1... with a little hacking, it
will fit nicely into a Hoffman enclosure for a ultra-portable Apple I.

I agree that it is small, particularly since Apples only use about
3/4 of the display dimensions anyway. (This was done to tolerate CRT
overscan--not an issue with LCD displays.)

But it is still quite readable and sharp. It is fine if you have good
close vision. ;-)
