I'm hoping to keep the clutter to a minimum... also I forgot to mention
that my inner geek is demanding an excuse to build-in serial cables
instead of ethernet like every other guy has ;-)

I was hoping to test this with an Apple printer cable, but on a second
look it appears I don't have any... I do have quite a few DIN8 to DB25
modem cables, so I presume a standard null-modem adaptor should do the
job here. (???)

If I can get the null-modem thing working with ProTerm that will likely
meet my needs for now... I did have a Warp6 BBS setup at one time, but
never quite got it to answer a call... it was a bit lame having to log
in from the same computer the BBS was running on :(
