: Hi Bill,
:
: Heh, of course, I should've included all the details.
:
: - Booting from Slot 1 - CFFA 32MB partition 1 of 4
: - Slot set to boot from 1, not scan
: - 3.5" SD controller in Slot 5
: - SSC-II (super serial) card in Slot 2
: - GS-RAM 1.5MB (need a RAM4GS hint hint!) :)
:
: I swapped out the GS-RAM because it wasn't bought as a
: working board, it was bought to scavenge the chips from
: for a Slinky //e card. I thought it was a bonus that it
: "worked" but I appear to be wrong. The $27 got worse
: after I posted, and in fact on the boot, when you see
: the little boot and the little speaker icon, the speaker
: icon was completely trashing the display till it got into
: finder. I suspected RAM for no better reason than
: it's the oldest card I have in my IIgs.
:
: The SSC-II card was NIB less than a year ago, the
: CFFA card is of course pretty darn new and the
: Superdrive controller has "low-miles" too.
:
: So far, so good, but the Finder reports no huge
: amount of RAM - LOL ... C'est la vie, it seems to
: be working better now.
:
: All I did prior to System 6.0.1 was use software that
: likely only needed the first 48K of RAM so I didn't
: see my GS-RAM trashing anything in memory.
:
: *fingers crossed* that this fixes the $27 error code.
:
: I'll keep you all posted ... stay tuned on the edge of
: your seats! :)
Sounds like you may have found the problem. Bad ram
can cause your problem as well. I should have thought
of that, being I sell one. BTW, they are coming soon.
The software loads into ram that is available, or thought
to be, and then reads from it as it loads other software
into it. A bad ram surely can have an affect on the whole
system. Keep us abreast of the situation. RAM-4-GS
is coming. Don't buy another card. I promise you'll get
one. :o)
