Before Apple went all USB it was easier to find those adapters, the only 
one I've found lately is Belkin Part # A3I436-06 which lists for $25 and I 
have found at www.insight.com for $15.

Since you already have a double ended printer cable it would probably be 
simplest to cut it in half, go to Radio Shack get a db-9 connector Cat #: 
276-1427 and make your own.
