No, I actually meant Shift-Print Scrn.  On my keyboard, Print Scrn
is a shifted function, with SysRq as the unshifted function.  I have
always used Shift, but I note that the unshifted function is also
mapped to Print Scrn.

Anyone should know the size of their desktop, since it's just their
video resolution, say 1280x1024.  Create a new (blank) image of
that size and then paste in the desktop.  Cropping is trivial.

Many image editors will default to creating a "New" image of the
size of the clipboard image, if there is one.
