Re: II.Sound question: why is it better on a //e, than a IIgs?

IISOUND is based on my software DAC522, and Philip modified it
(slightly) to bank-switch the AUX memory card. It is 8-bit software.
(BTW, if you listen carefully, you can hear the "pops" when it
swttches banks. Since the time it requires was not accounted for
in the DAC, whenever a switch occurs, the currently playing sample
is lengthened, causing an audible noise.)
Since the IIgs does not have a bank-switched memory emulation
beyond the "standard" 128K //e, I expect that it simply plays two
(main + AUX) banks worth and then quits because it has run out
of 8-bit addressable memory.
An adaptation to use IIgs memory would require a DAC522 that
ran in 16-bit mode--a serious piece of work that would be of
limited benefit to IIgs owners, since they have a _real_ DAC
that they can use to play sounds.
