Well, I've wanted to create a new computer for ages but, like you say
here:

Simply creating a new computer wouldn't be very interesting as there
would be no application software for it. However, if I were to create
a new computer that was Apple II compatible, I would have loads of
software that can be used with it, some of which would automatically
benefit from some of the new features that were added.

I love my Apple IIs because of their design and the user interface and
openness to learn how it all works. If my current PC were like this I
wouldn't have any desire for a new Apple II compatible, but it most
certainly isn't.

Besides, I was always leaning toward calling my Apple II compatible
"A2" as opposed to "Apple II". :-)
