Hello.
I'm new to this group and a Google Usenet search didn't give anything so I'm asking the question. I'm really impressed about what the Commodore 64 community did with Gamebase 64 database. The Sinclair Spectrum, Atari ST communities are also using James Burrows MS Access database. Wouldn't it be nice making a database about Apple II gaming? I have fond memories about playing Snapper, Epoch, Stellar 7, Skyfox, Aztec, Lode Runner, Drol, Tapan, Crypt of Medea... but I'm no Apple II specialist.
Best regards.

Laurent

Neat sounding idea. Dr. Tom was interested in creating something like
that on his Cabi-net site back in the late 1990's. So were Modus (Asimov) and
Celt (Tarnover).
The main reason something like a comprehensive Apple II and IIgs
gamebase didn't happen years ago is that every time someone started to put
one together the person was attacked as a "pirate". In some cases, the sites
were also hacked into and wrecked.

And, because sometimes software that was still being sold was listed, people contacted ISPs and got the sites shut down.

Maybe today it's doable. In the mean time, we shall muddle along with
multiply redundant game and docs/hints/solves/cheat/crack sites-- works
pretty well. We have flexibility and variety; plus, there's plenty of backup.
