Re: Ok, where does it all go?
I have almost the exact configuration only I have slots 6 and 7 reverse
as I never use a 5.25 while my HD is up. Everything is 3.5 disks for
transferring data. After careful consideration though, I think I may
change mine to this set-up. Also remember that internal function still
remain at many of the ports as GSOS can bypassses the "slot" and speak
directly to the the hardware port. (Modem port still works with several
GSOS comm programs, Mouse still works in GSOS on Rom3, etc) The slot
space is there for Apple II 8 bit compatibility. ProDOS 8 will require
the stots set to their port to see them. (Hope that made sense.)
Right to left:
Ram Slot: RAM-4-GS (Only place to go for Ram)
Slot 7: CFFA card with 512mb CF card (Boot me baby!)
Slot 6: Apple Rev C SCSI card (with Apple CD 600e)
Slot 5: Apple Superdrive controller card (with Apple 3.5 1.44k superdrive)
Slot 4: Unless it is a Rom 3, leave empty
Slot 3: Rev 1.02 ZIPGSx
Slot 2: Super Serial Card/Modem port
Slot 1: LanceGS /AppleTalk
Control Panel slot settings:
7 My Card
6 My card or Disk Port, depending on whether you need CD Rom at the
time. It is unlikely that you will need both 5.25 and CD Rom
simultaneously. Make sure to plug the 5.25 drives onto the disk port
when using the superdrive controller as the 3.5" drives will be on that
instead.
5 My card for superdrive access or Disk port if you need to use Photonix
disk copy. :) Plug the superdrive into the superdrive controller, note
that the disk port will not control 3.5" drives while the slot is using
the super drive.
4 Required by the mouse on Rom1, usable as my card if Rom 3 and using GSOS.
3 (Forgot menu item for video card) USe slot only for cards not
requiring Stot Rom space or a video card. (IIgs audio crds,
Accelerators, Second sight video card.)
2 My card for SS card and modem port if you will use a modem that boot
1 My card for LANceGS or Printer port
Boot slot SCAN
One more tyhing to consider, I have my IIgs boot to Prodos 8 and then I
have a menu launcher that allows me to boot from another slot or launch
a util or load GSOS of my preference. :) It means I have to choose but
I don't have to jump into the control panel and change the boot slot nor
press reset and PR#x to reboot on disk of choice. Turn it on, press the
menu selection I desire to boot. :) Thankx to "GS/OS Quad Boot" By
Joel Buckley.

I don't know where this stuff goes.
I have (or will shortly have) the following cards to install in my Apple
IIgs Rom 03. I'm not sure how to put them all in to get the most
efficacious use of the system. If you can help me assign them to a
slot, I'd appreciate it.
