For the low 48K, you have to store some values and read them back, and
see if you get what you wrote. If not, there's no chip there.
For the language card, you can hit some softswitches and do the same
thing.
For a 128K //e or //c, you can hit the auxmem switches and continue the
same games.
For a IIgs you can make a toolbox call. If that seems too simple, repeat
the earlier instructions, but walk through increasing 64K banks.
