This is similar to what Roger Wagner Publishing did years ago when theypublished the SoftSwitch Classic Disk Accessory. Requires a Iigs, butwhat the heck, nobody really wants 3 fast IIes in one box. :)

Actually what got me going on this idea was exactly that (user
multitasking). Writing programs, for example, might be faster if you
could have Merlin, Program Writer and a few Beagle Bros utilities all
available without having to switch disks etc...
