Re: Accessible emulators for Linux or Windows?
Hello there,
The method of text to speech is a screen reader on my PC in conjunction with
a hardware speech synthesizer. It's basically done a line at a time. The
curser doesn't bother me. On a real Apple, I have an Echo speech
synthesizer and the Textalker software. Man that'd be nifty, if somebody
could come out with an emulator which emulated an Echo card!
What I'd really love is an emulator for use on Linux. Win32 console
applications are accessible, but not quite as good as MS-DOS applications.
Win32 GUI applications are accessible but through a different screen reader
which isn't quite as flexible. Linux applications, as long as they're
console applications E.G. no X/GTK/Gnome/etc. work wonderfully as I can use
Telnet to get into the Linux box from remote. Hope this helps.
Jayson.
