I respect you position but still see a benefit to webrings. I think
webrings still help newer or fresh sites to at least get somewhat noticed.
Remember, Google (and other search engines) rankings are based on hits and
newer websites do not have this advantage so they may not get noticed and
therefore if the webmaster or webmistress realizes that not many people are
visiting their site then they may abandon their well thought out well put
together website and give up on any forth coming project or idea. Your site
is listed at the top of Google because, obviously, it is a popular website
in the CP/M community but what about newer CP/M websites that may come along
down the road ? Don't they deserve a chance to be seen ? Being in a webring
may not be the greatest idea in the world but its not a bad idea either. At
least in a webring someone's site might get noticed and then more hits
genereated thereby increasing the rankings for the page and also increasing
the chance of the website getting noticed not only by web surfers but also
by web search engines. This is a way to do it for *FREE* without banner
ads, pop up ads, or anyother type of annoying ad (which I don't have on my
own site btw)..

I agree, I don't like the web ring nav code either, but if there was a way
that I could make it smaller, I would (not much into html code).
