I have been archiving a collection of software for a high school for
use with emulators on newer computers.
I have successfully used MECCOPY and ADT to transfer 5.25 MECC disks.
I have not yet found a solution to create images of 800k MECC disks.
I have attempted to use Copy II Plus, and am able to make one copy of
the original disk. This copy cannot be copied again, and cannot be
transferred to a computer with disk imaging software. I have looked
into using software on the Apple II, and on the Macintosh to back up
these disks without success.
I have looked into purchasing Disk2FDI, but I did not see any
emulators which can use the FDI file format, or any way to transfer
FDI files back to disks. I also do not know of any way to convert FDI
files to a more easily used format.
If anyone knows how to create disk images of protected 800k MECC
disks, or how to fully de-protect them so that they can be backed up
by normal means, please let me know.
Thanks.
