Welcome to the world of 8-bit IIe computing!
Here's some Recommended reading - you can find just about any question you
might think of answered here:

There is ways around having any software for the computer. Get ahold
of some DS/DD 5.25" floppies (even blanks!) and ADT win, from there
with a Super Serial Card, you can format a disk and have your drive
actually boot-strapping the computer for you! :)
