Re: sturdy old apple

Sorry to add to the length of this thread but I wanted to chime in with
that it seems LOTS of people in the US get hung up over their
designations "African American", "Asian American", etc, etc. One of my
co-workers said he was tired of that as he said "we are all American"
regardless of skin color/ethnicity. Some of you have already pointed it
out, but "designations" don't do anyone justice. When we say "African
American" we automatically think of a "black" person, "Asian American"
as someone from China/Japan/etc, and so on.

My "white" co-worker is from Africa. I made fun of him, telling him
that he was "African American".

How about the fact that my dad, who was born in China, moved to Peru and
speaks Spanish, 3 dialects of CHinese and English? Quite a few of my
aunts/uncles/cousins were born in Peru. How would you desribe them?
"Latin Chinese American"? :D

It's pretty crazy out there how people worry about their
"designations"? Man, we're just "human" living on the planet earth!!
