  Remove the motherboard and look for any chips with silver coated legs.  They
are easy to find, they'll be black from all the years of tarnish.  Remove the
tarnished chips, and clean off the tarnish with a pencil eraser.  I use the big
eraser with angled ends to be able to reach the inside parts of the legs
easier.  Make sure you put the chips back in in the right order and
orientation. DO NOT spray any cleaner on the board.

  Could possibly be you have a very early card that was modded to fix a bug,
but it could also be that someone went to remove a socket and lifted some
traces, and had to use wire to fix their screw-up.  Apple boards back then had
fairly tough traces, but you never know what technique they may have used to
remove the sockets or chips.
