Preparing a SyQuest 44/88 disk for use with the IIe card:

1. Be sure that the extention "ProDOS File System" is
installed on your Mac and that it is active.
(This control panel is included in the IIe card software download
form Apple.)

2. When partitioning the disk, format the first patition as HFS,
then add ProDOS partitions.

3. Depending on what software has been used to format, initialize,
partition, wipe, etc the disk in the past one of the two methods
below should work.

4. Use "Apple HD SC Setup 7.3.5 Patched" to prepare the disk
as per 2. above.  For instructions for patching HD SC Setup go to:

5. If the patched HD Setup does not recognize the disk, use the
SyQuest Utilities to set up the disk, then use
Apple HD SC Setup Patched (see 4. above) to partition using the
steps below.

A. Do a google search for "SyQuest Utilities Mac" to locate and
download a copy of the utilities.

B. Install and activate the SyQuest Utilities control panel on
your Mac.

C. Prepare the disk with the SQ Utilities.

[Note... leave the SyQuest disk in the SyQuest drive during the
following steps]

D. Use the extentions manager to to deactivate the SyQuest Control
Panel.

E. Restart the Mac. (Don't shutdown, Restart)

F. Now use "Apple HD SC Setup Patched" to initialize, then partition
the disk.  (HFS for the first partition, ProDOS for the remaining
partitions.)

[Note... when using the prepared disk, leave the SyQuest Control
Panel deactivated.]
