Apologies, but I can't find an Apple /// newsgroup. My question is:
I have two Apple ///s which I powered up after they hadn't been used for
years. They worked but after a couple of minutes each machine went 'pop,
pop' and white smoke came from the case around the on/off switch. All
was accompanied by a distinct smell of burning.
I opened one up and it looked like the smoke was coming from the power
supply (at the back on the left as you look from the keyboard), but it
seems enclosed and difficult to access.
The bizarre thing was that I reconnected power to one and rebooted and
it seemed to work!
Anyone got experience of this? How terminal is the damage?
Any help anyone can give before I experiment further? Thanks for reading.
Jake
