First off, are you using the latest version of Harmonie, the one
designated as v2.11b? If not, a low cost update is available.

Secondly, what happens when you run the ProDOS-8 based Printer.Test
program that is included on the Harmonie disk?

Thirdly, does the LaserJet 4L pass the built-in diagnostics test? 

Lastly, after switching printers from the DJ to the LJ, did you go to the
Printer Control Panel to change settings?

A problem with printing could be traced to a problem with the software,
the Parallel card, the cable, the IIGS, or the printer itself. In order to
find the actual cause of the problem, it's necessary to rule out all the
possibilities...
