Speed, that's all I hear anymore. Big deal. 8-)
I think A2 Desktop was a //c system designed to work
with the UniDisk upgrade. I may be wrong, but that
makes a bit more sense. The first true IIgs system
that was specifically made for it was System 1.0, which
was a pre-requisite for GS/OS. IIRC, that OS went up
to version 3.0, and then shortly after GS/OS 4.0 was
born. I will more than likely be harshly corrected.
Truthfully, I do use my IIgs ROM03 as mainly a 16-bit
machine, and I have very few 8-bit programs on it, but
I also have one that I do run only 8-bit programs on.
I love the 16-bit games much better than any of the
8-bit ones, excluding MS.PacMan, which, if it existed
for the 16-bit, would become one more of my favorite
16-bit games. 8-)
For the person who wants a 1 MB ram card, you'll be
restricted to, I believe, GS/OS 5.0.4 on that size
ram. I have run GS/OS 6.0.1 on 1 MB, but it is not
going to be able to use a SCSI card or any of the
fancy features that it employs.
So, go ahead and run your GS like a //e if you like
it that way, but please, also run MS-DOS 6.22 on
your Pentium 4 and OS 7.1 on your G5s.
Thank you,
