Since I mentioned this in a previous post, it's eating at me and I have
to know. I have a FocusDrive mounted in my IIgs in Slot 6 (set to "Your
Card") and start up is set to that slot as well. I also have 2 3.5"
drives daisy chained into the Smart Port - if I want to add a 5.25"
drive to the end of chain, do I have to make any changes to the current
setup (other than plugging the drive in, obviously)? I seem to recall
reading somewhere that a IIgs will automatically try to boot from a
5.25" drive if it finds one attached.
If the startup is set to Scan then the IIgs will try to boot from the
highest slot it finds a drive in. If there's nothing in slot 7 then
it checks slot 6 and so forth. If there's a 5.25" drive attached to
the disk port then it'll be mapped to slot 6 unless that slot is set
to your card. If slot 6 is set to "your card" then you won't be able
to use a 5.25" drive at all from the disk port.
If StartUp is set to a specific slot then it'll try to start from
that slot.
