I never bought an Apple II new.  New prices were unlike anything you
would see in a thrift store.  I found the prices on various items I
put in a custom system from ads in magazines like InCider. My custom
machine would have cost over $35,000 new.

The computer industry's lust to sell has driven the prices down.  I
never thought I'd see a system under $1000.  You can buy a lot for
less than that.

Cables and power cords are plentiful and cheap enough in electronic
stores like HSC.  A Mac store gave me four GSes because someone had
traded them in for a Mac.
