Original Apple II keyboard question

I recently acquired an original Apple II and I have a question about the
keyboard. Most original II's have a different keyboard than the II+ models
and the difference is noticed at the power button. Mine looks like a II+
keyboard but it doesn't have a separate keyboard encoder board like on the
II+. Did Apple use a newer style keyboard toward the end of the original II
line in 1979?
