You should have no problem leaving your IIgs running but if you don't
really want to do that, you can get some utility software for GS/OS
that will remember your Control Panel settings and restore them for
you whenever you want, even every time you boot I believe.  I know
there was one that was created to keep students from changing the
Control Panel settings of the classroom IIgs'.

I've seen a few of these programs available for download but I can't
remember any of their names at present.
