A kindly provided (thanks Dave!), freshly-rolled nibblized disk image
(with vol# 232) of a working real copy of the Einstein compiler has
resulted in the same problem, so it must just be something around
emulator compatibility. I'll transfer the .nib file to a real disk
sometime while my son is down and try it that way and report back.
