I've bought from private individuals and from eBay, and
I must say that with eBay you take a chance more than
from an individual. You might find someone with a //e
that is already set up with everything you need, but
for the most part we buy a bare machine and find the
parts needed to make them go. I have spare motherboards,
floppy controllers and 80 column/64K ram cards for //e,
and have had trouble finding cases for them. Seems that
the cases and keyboards take a nasty beating and many of
them are discarded. I'd like to find these and rebuild
them to offer to people such as yourself who is looking
for a system ready to go, but as I said, parts are easy
to find, it's the cases and such that seem to be thin.
I have several IIgs rom-1 machines here, a few 1 mb RAM
cards, so, I can get you that far. The disk drives will
connect directly to the smartport of the IIgs so no extra
controllers are needed, however, to run a IIgs with the
GUI (GS/OS), you'll need some type of hard drive. There
is still available a newer device that works with a
hard drive or a Compact Flash card called CFFA. I can
supply you the link to this if you'd like. I use them
and have 64 MB in my //e and 128 MB in the IIgs. I will
soon be upgrading the IIgs to 256 MB and the //e to 128.
Then the 64 MB will be used in another machine. I can't
really offer any more info than that. If you should need
any advice in the future, let us know and we'll try to
help.
