You have been very lucky. I believe this is probably the 4th
item I've acquired that we've discussed problems with that
I've bought, no?

I agree, and I've been working with it for a week now and
the only viable location for this defect places it underneath
the 74xx245 socket. Now I will have to remove that socket
and look at it closely with a meter to be sure. Also the simm
sockets become very brittle over time and this one has one of
the retaining clips broken off so I have to buy some sockets
and replace those. Now there is danger of lifting trace pads, or
burning them thru which will render the card even more useless.
I don't find this to be a worthwhile venture, do you? More to the
point, I could go buy XT prototype cards, trim them, wire up some
components on it and build my own simm ram card, but I see no
point in going to all that trouble. There are things that are worth
the time and money and some not. This, to me, is one that is not.
