yeah.if i had a static ip address i'd put up the 3 systems i have that i HAD
up on the internet until approx oct of 2002..
apple // gs with trpro 4.2f rpg bbs software
2nd apple //gs with fv/metal 4.0xev bbs software
3rd apple iie with orig applenet dos 3.3 software from
safehouse bbs cira 1983 or so
but with static ip address's at 170 a month..an't gonna happen unless some
apple // types want to move to mankato, minnesota and set up a server farm
sysop/bbs project (yeah right
it also looks likely that 170 month will stay that way they call it a
business accnt 5 yrs ago a static ip business accnt with a 14.4 slip
connection was 170 month now you can get cablemodem or dsl ..static ip biz
accnt still 170 a month..the isps around here want you to host your server
on there site for 100 a month so they bump it up
and they also lock out places like noip.com etc...nice little war we have
going on ...telecomms are winning with variable ip...also satellite is a
nice option but they have no plans to make it with static ip
(disgusted in minnesota)
