But Apple did sell Apple-stamped memory through its dealers--and
they did charge about 2x-3x the going price from distributers.

Two weeks after buying my 16KB Apple ][ plus I bought another
32KB from JDR for $60 (in January of 1981), when Apple still
wanted $100 per 16KB.

As you point out, they never obscured the original manufacturers'
markings.  Their stamp did allow them to offer their warranty on
the chips they sold (as much as you could ever warrant anything
in an open computer  ;-).
