Non-volatile RAM would be a improvement for sure, but is  it a little slow?

A ROM Cart is my favorite idea because Operating Systems can be upgraded
just by replacing the cart just like in an old sega/nintendo game, any
changes made to the OS can be stored in the hard drive, such as drivers,
software etc. The best thing of all is that the OS can't be damaged by
viruses etc, the worst that would happen is that you loose a few drivers and
settings.
