No, GSOS came after the Mac, which (of course) came after
the Lisa and the Xerox Star, and...
GSOS was clearly "inspired by" the Mac, showing lots of
imitation and a few improvements. ;-)
Application _users_ love mice and icons (including me, when
I'm using Photoshop ;-).
Unfortunately, it comes with all the programming complexities
of a GUI, so it's a real drag for someone who likes to sit down
and knock out a stepper motor controller or a music keyboard
scanner in an hour or two (like me ;-).
