That's hardly a fair comparison.  A car doesn't gain any new abilities as a
result of performance upgrades.  The car itself, no matter how much faster
it can go, can still only perform the one task of moving things from A to B.
That's absolutely not true of computers.  At 50 MHz (or better!), a IIgs
might be able to do raytracing in a reasonable amount of time.  It could
open up the ability to play MP3 files.  Why stop with Wolf 3D, when the
source for DOOM is out there too?  Wouldn't you like to be able to watch
Quicktime files on your IIgs?  God forbid, I even think it would be fun to
have an MSIL interpreter on the IIgs, to open up Visual Studio .NET as a
IIgs development tool!

I can understand how a person could be content to remain limited to software
produced "back in the day".  But frankly, I want to see just how far an
Apple IIgs can be pushed.  I want my IIgs to be part of today's world AS
WELL as the past.  So goes the slogan, "Apple II Forever," right?  Not
"Apple II Yesterday".
