<snip the rest of the good advice>

ARGH!!!!

Even amongst Apple II people, the world is *ENTIRELY* too
"Windows-centric"!

I have no Windows box to run the program on that end...

And as an added downer, while ADTgs91.zip may be good for a //GS, it
specifically claims "Will only work on a GS". <sigh>

Fortunately, I know about back-tracking up the path on an FTP site, and
managed to find ADT1.22. I've got it downloaded, and the //e portion of
the code has been transferred over, and is sitting safely on disk.

However, without the program for "the other end", it's not doing much
that's very impressive... Just sorta "sitting there", doncha know...

BUT, all is not lost!

I went poking through the archive that held ADT, and discovered that
there's this nifty thing called "source code" included in it... AHA!
Here's the magic key that opens all doors!

I'm at least functional (perhaps not "mind-bogglingly brilliant", but
definitely well within the realm of competent) with the C programming
language and coding for the Mac, and I already own a copy of
CodeWarrior, so it's only going to be a matter of the time it'll take me
to port it into something CodeWarrior can digest before there will be a
proper *Macintosh* version of the program available.

Hooray!!!

I'll keep the group posted as to my progress in the porting. Shouldn't
take much more than a day or three.

Any feature requests for it while I'm "under the hood"?

Preferences in regards to PowerPC-based, 68K, or "fat"?

Don't even *THINK* about asking for a MacOS X-specific version... I'll
warn you in advance that I *WILL NOT EVEN MAKE AN ATTEMPT* in that
direction unless somebody is buying me an X-savvy copy of CodeWarrior,
*AND* supplying me with chocolate milk and oreos for as long as it takes
me to get past the learning curve involved in going from MacOS 8.x to
10.x programming...
