Well, I think you're talking about Hot Rod - a pirate who later turned
professional software developer. I definately remember the games.
Don't get confused with software he "deprotected" and software he wrote,
however.
I believe Rod's Revenge was one he wrote - a reverse on Sabotage, if I
don't have the games mixed up.
Anyway, try this on Google:

He's mentioned in a few tribute pages, from what I can tell. No names,
unfortunately...
