That won't work, because the IIe Workstation Card implements most of the
AppleTalk stack in firmware on the card. The software that comes with
the card simply hooks it into ProDOS.
On the IIgs, Apple never implemented a version of the AppleShare client
that would work when booted directly into ProDOS-8. You have to boot
via GS/OS to load the necessary software.
In theory, you could use a IIe Workstation Card (and its software) in a
IIgs booted directly into ProDOS-8, but I've never tried it.
