Yes, the CD-R and CD-RW discs are spirals. There is a groove
in the substrate that the CD writer can follow so that it knows
where to write. The 650MB you make with DirectCD or InCD is still
a spiral but written in packet format rather than a single continuous
track.

Just do a web search (google or altavista) looking for keywords
like CD FAQ packet writing.
