The best way to handle a 100 mb zip disk on the GS is to
initialize it with Advanced disk utilities in GS/OS. Partition
it in 3 equal partitions either in ProDOS or HFS, but I
strongly recommend ProDOS for all 3. Mine works simply
marvelously, and never sleeps. I can't remember one single
time I had to eject and remount it. Be sure your hard drive
is set to ID 6 and the Zip to ID 5, otherwise it will try to
boot off the zip. Oh, and you can't use the Zip drive alone,
unless you have an active terminator between the controller
and the drive, or a hard drive with resistor packs installed,
and turned off. I went thru problems similar to these for
almost a month before discovering the proper set-up. If you
need anymore help, please let me know. I have a zip drive
running very well. The best way to take files to your GS from
your PC is on floppy. Format them on the GS with MS-DOS
tools 2.30, and if it's not to big I'll put it on my site. It's not
freeware, but you can use it for a while before you buy it.
My site address is below. Hope this helps.
