All I can offer you is this, my system has the Superdrive card in slot 5 set
to
"Your Card", slot 6 has a 5.25 controller and is also set to "Your Card"
in Control panel display is set to 80 column. I also have an Apple II SCSI
card in slot 4 set to "Your Card". Best I can tell you is try using 5.25
controller
for your 5.25 drives in slot 6 and set both 5 & 6 to "Your Card".
Please let me know if this solves your problem.

No, I personally don't believe this is normal, however, I'm also not sure if
I
had that problem and is the reason I use the 5.25 controller in 6.

I would think a bad card would issue a more definitive message like
"Check Boot Drive" or something, similar to when there are no drives
attached at all.

I hope this helps you.
