Your best bet would be just a serial connection (either directly with
a serial cable or modem to modem) to a Linux machine that is connected
to your LAN.  Then you would essentially telnet into a shell account
set up on the Linux box and if the Linux system has Samba configured,
you can access files on the other computers in your LAN.  Granted,
that isn't probably what you had in mind, but it is the only solution
I can think of at the moment.
