Re: Help with appletalk

You said that you had the mac connected to the GS through the serial port with
phone net connectors. Therefore you do not set the network to ethernet, you set
the networkcontrol panel to localtalk (clasic networking) or the Appletalk
control panel to printer port (open transport networking).

Once you have set the network too localtalk, you use the chooser to turn on
appletalk, and then the file sharing control panel to set the mac share it's
files. Then go to the GS, make sure you have appletalk turned on in the correct
slot, and use the appleshare control panel to log on to the mac.

If you are on an ethernet network and you wish to link it to a localtalk
network you need to run LocalTalk Bridge on the machine that is connected to
the ethernet network via a card and the localtalk network via the serial port.

If you have a hard drive on your GS, there is no point in booting off the mac.
If you do use Appleshare server on the mac then the mac will only be hard drive
for your gs, and nothing else.
